Crack Repair
Cracked Wheel? Start With an Inspection.
A cracked wheel does not automatically mean it needs to be replaced, but crack location, severity and the overall condition of the wheel matter. Some cracks can be professionally repaired while others should not be repaired at all.
That is why every crack repair begins with an inspection. We look at the crack itself, check for bends and additional damage, and determine whether the wheel is a safe candidate for repair before any work begins.
What We Look For
Wheel cracks are not all the same. We evaluate the crack and the rest of the wheel before deciding whether repair is appropriate.
Crack Location
Where a crack is located is one of the most important factors in determining whether the wheel can be safely repaired.
Crack Size & Severity
We evaluate the length and severity of the crack along with the surrounding material and damage.
Bends & Impact Damage
Cracks often follow an impact. We check for bends, flat spots and other deformation that may have occurred at the same time.
Previous Repairs
Previous welds and repairs are inspected along with the current damage before we recommend additional work.
Our Crack Repair Process
The first step is deciding whether the wheel should be repaired at all. From there, qualifying cracks are prepared, repaired and inspected.
1
Inspect
We inspect the crack, surrounding wheel and tire for additional damage.
2
Evaluate
Crack location, severity, previous repairs and wheel condition determine whether repair is appropriate.
3
Repair
Qualifying cracks are properly prepared and repaired using the appropriate process.
4
Final Inspection
The repaired wheel is checked again before it goes back on the vehicle.
Every Wheel Gets a Four-Point Inspection
A visible crack may only be part of the damage. We inspect the wheel and tire for other issues before recommending work.
Bend Inspection
We check for bends, flat spots, out-of-round conditions and structural deformation.
Crack Inspection
We look for cracks, previous welds, stress fractures and potential air leaks.
Cosmetic Inspection
Curb rash, scratches, corrosion, peeling clear coat and previous repairs are evaluated.
Tire Inspection
We check for punctures, leaks, uneven wear, sidewall damage, dry rot, bulges and tread concerns.
Crack Repair Pricing
Current pricing for qualifying crack repairs and combination repairs based on wheel size and damage.
Final pricing and repairability depend on wheel size, finish, crack location, condition and additional damage. Some cracked wheels cannot be safely repaired. Final recommendations are subject to inspection.
